DST Blues

Here we are in DST--the six months of the year when, no matter what I do, I just can't quite wake up.

Why do we do this to ourselves again?

The rest of Indiana was dragged kicking and screaming into DST and I hate it with a passion. Guh, I felt like a cranky toddler today.

Because of the glorious, glorious sunlight in the evening!

Perhaps I'd appreciate the glorious evening sunlight more if I didn't work SECOND SHIFT!

So, then why do we have to stop DST in the winter? Let's just pick a time and go with it. Everyone's productivity will be enhanced.

I've heard it's so that kids aren't walking to school in the dark in the winter.

But how many kids do you know who walk to school? Especially at that time of year...

I'd also add, especially in this climate. Parents don't trust their kids to not get abducted, so kids pretty much don't walk to school anymore at all.

Seriously, though, where I live, only the kids who live within a block of school walk at all.

The government says it's an energy conservation thing or has something to do with more working hours.

*shifty eyes*. But we all know about trusting the Man. You can't trust the Man or his clock setting ways. Fight the power! Sleep in! :)

I'm the same way. It's going to be about mid-June before my internal clock finally compensates. And it's worse now that I'm farther north for some reason. In Florida, it was less of a problem for me.
