domain sales

A few days ago I was contacted by someone who wants to buy my domain name galacticfed.com. He says he's from the Galactic Federation Gaming Clan and they want to use the domain in question for their primary page. This all seems legit. So, I guess the question I have is: what do I ask for in compensation?

It would be nice if you could find out what they are willing to offer. I don't really know what the right answer is.

The offers so far are non-monetary, but they also sound fairly determined. The group has offered to give me a subdomain, to host my site, and to put a banner on their site for my new domain should I get one.

There are free domain appraisal services around.

They seem to suggest it's worth somewhere around $200.

Thanks. I never even thought of domain appraisals. I'm not sure how worthwhile they are, though. One I looked at told me my domain was valued between 14-16 thousand. Another told me about $350 dollars.

Get as much as you can for it. I say start at $500 and be willing to negotiate.

And if he's not willing to pay money, he can get another domain name. Actually, I imagine the domain might turn out to be more valuable than even $500 because you never know what comic book/scifi movie thing might come around that wants 'GalaticFed.com'.

So, yeah, get as much as you can!
