Somehow there's only a week of winter break left. Not only do I have no idea where the break went, I have very little to show for it. My (extensive) stack o' books didn't even get any shorter.

The holidays were largely DVD/media related. When all is said and done, I ended up with V: The Series, Smallville season 1, Quantum Leap season 1, and Forever Knight season 2. Except the latter, which I bought for myself with birthday money, the others were on my Amazon wishlist just because. The shows don't particularly interest me except in the sense of being able to throw out some more VHS tapes. I'm surprised the family chose these and not, oh, say, Buffy 7 or Angel 5. Perhaps they figured I already had them, because they certainly bought me a lot of other Buffy related things.

The last few days have been sacrificed to the computer game gods. Also, the mp3 gods. Because of rewatching FK2, I got the bug in my ear to update the CERK radio archives (a cassette tape of everything LaCroix ever said on air and a few things he didn't, all strung together, plus my Unnamed version of Queen's "Who Wants to Live Forever"). The files, save for one that I seem to have lost, have now all been converted to mp3 and burned to CD, so I can again listen to them obsessively in my car. "Life is a gift . . ."

Also because of FK2, I went--again--searching for good Nick&Schanke fic. Found several archives that are largely unnavigable, and completely unhelpful. Somehow segued from FK to Angel and started searching for post-NFA Connor stories. To my utter surprise, someone else thought he should have been spun off after Angel ended. Unfortunately the virtual season is all on LJ , so the navigation is a little awkward. Though the first couple of episodes are a little thin, they're quite well-written. Consider this a rec for The Destroyer a Connor and Faith, post-NFA, virtual series available at [livejournal.com profile] orlon_window community.

Also, [livejournal.com profile] tptigger is the absolute coolest. She fulfilled one of my Wishlist requests and wrote me this story. Now I just need to help her find a title so she can post this to the list.

In closing: happiness is a warm cat in your lap on a cold day.

ETA: Happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] trinalin. Hope it was a good one.

It also needs some translation into Brit-speak if I can figure out where I put Shaun's impromptu beta ;)

The birthday was, indeed, good. Actually, now that I think about it, I haven't finished watching the parade! I love how HGTV now airs it sans commercials. So I tape it and watch it at my leisure. Purty flowers!

Thanks for linking to [livejournal.com profile] tptigger's story. I'd like to read it, but have no clue about the original TP series. Haven't seen a single ep. Would you please recommend a site where I can get some sort of feel for the characters?

One of these days I'll get around to watching the original series, really!

Would you please recommend a site...

Tptigger's Who's Who in the OS TP might help: http://home.earthlink.net/~tptigger42/tpchar.html

The episode guide and other info at Marla's site might also help:

You want them on tape? The quality is terrible and I seem to have lost the best serial to a permanent loan, but the rest are just sitting here taking up space now that I've replaced them all with DVDs. I'd be happy to box 'em up and ship 'em to you for nothing more than a reminder of your address.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm going to decline. To be honest, I'd rather scrounge around locally for good quality copies of the series. One of my friends may even have the DVDs. Aside from that, my #1 priority in the near future is to wrap up "Starborn." Then I can move on to funner, fannish stuff.

I'll email you my postal address tonight, 'kay? :)

The offer's open if you change your mind. It can be tough to find any copies of the show in this country that didn't start with me.

What do you mean "wrap up 'Starborn'"? This isn't good news!

I'll email you my postal address tonight

This weekend -- it's a long one for me thanks to federal holidays *grin* -- I'm going to finish the final episode. It's time to put this baby to bed and move on to something else. Preferably something I can sell. :\
