DH signed his new contract yesterday and resigned his old contract today. He is now officially in the employ of his new school and we are definitely going to be moving.
We went to recon real estate on Wednesday. After only a few minutes with the newspaper, we realized that the economy has essentially made our decision for us. It has become significantly cheaper to buy a house than to rent an apartment. So now we're off to learn everything there is to know about mortgages. If anyone has advice or wisdom on getting/owning one's first home, please comment.
DH has to play in a wedding tomorrow, so I am returning alone to meet with the real estate agent.
I never thought I'd say this .. but thank goodness I don't have a job.

Looking at my inbox, I see that I'm dreadfully behind on fanfic. Amongst others, I have a piece from
tptigger that I'm sure she wanted back a month ago. Perhaps I should get to that?
Every two years I try to do an awards for the TPFICT archives and this September is supposed to be the next awards. But over the last 2 years, only 35 stories or poems have been submitted. With those numbers, it's not even worth the effort. If I can get that piece back to
tptigger and if
darthanne will finish posting the one she started posting in February, then maybe there's a chance at reaching my personal goal of 10 summer submissions--which would at least make the fields a little competitive.
I suppose this means I'll have to work on some stories of my own, too. :)
In the meantime, I'll just sit here and wish that the LJ software offered a way to change that Current Music option into Current Book. The only music I listen to is while I'm driving. OTOH, I usually have a nice stack of books that I'm working on. And I don't usually read while I'm driving. At least, not so much anymore.

Um....
November might be a reasonable goal for me.
*Might*
(no subject)
*looks sheepish* I got sidetracked by the Gundam boys....again. Once I've finished 'Thin Red Line' I'll get onto 'Murphy's Law'. Just keep nagging me....
All I know about mortgages
On the house front, you should find your own inspector, especially if the realtor is also involved in the property you are looking to buy.
After a brief arguement, and it's always fun to watch my dog argue with somebody, Morgan has joined Mom in the papasan. I'm never going to get them out of my office...
