The feline drama continues.

Lolly, of course, died almost a year ago. We never did get a final diagnosis on her, but the evidence seems to indicate FIP. Following her death, we had Piccadilly (Dilly) tested for FIP. Her tests came back with a low positive.

For the last several months we've been going through on-again, off-again bouts of sick kitty. We just battled and defeated another one, but they're getting worse. Since they're triggered by stress, there's no way to know when the next one will hit. The last one was caused by a week of bad weather (thunder is very scary) and took almost three weeks to defeat.

We finally pinned the vet down and got her to give us some direct answers. According to her, Dilly can be expected to live only another year or so. Two if we're lucky. We were hoping for five.

That means in another year or two, we're going to have to deal with introducing another new cat to the house. Dolly (the other one, formerly named Daisy) is too energetic to ever be a single cat.

After talking things over with the vet and various other cat owners, we decided that it's better to introduce the new cat before Dilly dies, so that it's a companion and not a replacement vying for territory. So, we've been on the search for a new kitty.

Today we bought one. This makes cat #4 from the Humane Society. She's a little under a year old, tiny (about 7 pounds right now), and very friendly.

The name she comes with is Cutie, but we want to change it. Our theme seems to be -lly names, but really it's names from songs. Dilly and Lolly came from the song It's a Long Way to Tipperary and the line "Goodbye, Piccadilly. Farewell, Leicester Square." Dolly is from the musical Hello, Dolly. Tipperary has already been ruled out as being bad luck :(

Anyone have any suggestions?

Yes, but you can always call her Tippie for short.

I'm sorry about Dilly's prognosis, she sounds like a trouper.

Well, there's Silly, if she acts that way. Sally (after the best character in The Dick Van Dyke Show). Millie (after a so-so character in The Dick Van Dyke Show). Molly. Billy (if she's a bit butch). Golly, for a unique name. Cally, if you're into Blake's 7. Hmmm, that's enough suggestions for now.

PS: KITTY!
