Although I tried very, very hard -- including ordering the Stargate pilot from the UK back before it had been released in this country -- I never could get into the series. Still, when I saw this news, I just had to share and comment.
From SFTV.org:
Stargate SG-1 Season Eight Cast addition
In order to attract a younger audience to the series, especially the 18-34
year old male, SciFi has announced that they will be adding a new character
to the SG-1 team next season, Sarah O'Neill, Jack O'Niell's niece. She's a
sixteen year old whiz kid (who, of course, is also a hottie) who when visiting
Uncle Jack finds out about the SG-1 project and convinces him to let her go
on a mission. When things go bad and she saves everyone, Jack decides to
keep her on, at least through summer vacation.
April Fool's!
FYI: They did post this and I'm just passing it on.

You aimed that one at me. It wasn't very funny, either. :)

If they gave her telekinesis, maybe I'd start watching the show :)

I looked at that, blinked, and went, "Wait, I thought O'Neill was an only child, wasn't he?" (Don't have any idea where I heard that one.)
THEN I realized what this was, which is why you're not going to be killed for causing a heart attack. :)

The evilness is of course that I could really see them doing it, the dumbkoffs.
SciFi really posted that?
That was cool, Wendy.
Of course, I can't get into the show either.
Re: SciFi really posted that?
I'm sure they knew it was a Mary Sue. They picked the three worst things SF fans could imagine. The other two where 1. The announcement of the full cancellation of Enterprise, to be replaced by one of two possible reality series that feature ex-Star Trek cast members; and 2. The announcement that the SciFi Channel would be airing the new Dr Who, but would first be over-dubbing the actors' voices with American actors, out of fear that no one would be able to understand the English accents.
Re: SciFi really posted that?
LOL! These are the people who thought people might confuse Deepwater Black (thus retitling it Mission: Genesis) and seaQuest DSV, after all. :)
