No tax refund for us this year. I don't usually get them, but this year I actually expected one.
Usually I enjoy doing taxes. Yes, I'm weird that way. Usually I don't think taxes are that complicated, even though I'm involved in enough things that the supplementary forms and schedules develop into an impressive stack. This year that's not the case. The Federal forms were mostly fine, though I'm still a little baffled about why we're not getting a refund. Wisconsin, OTOH, seems to have made some changes to their tax laws since last year that have resulted in the form being total gibberish.
I almost miss the Minnesota form. It's pretty bare: "How much did you make last year? OK. Send it to us."
I'm pretty sure Wisconsin wants all my money too, expect they're trying to manipulate by tricking me with percentages and hidden caps on deductions. Maybe their ultimate goal is to wait until April 16th, then just sue the entire populace of the state for tax fraud. That would be the kind of thing they'd do.

I was supposed to be covering two classes today for a colleague. He even made me get up early for them. Then he neglected to leave me any information at all about what the classes are supposed to do, and what they told me doesn't help. How exactly does one use Haiku in a class that's about teaching argumentative writing?
